11. Noi Bai Airport To Old Quarter (City Center)

Book a Grab Car – Noi Bai airport transport

You need a Grab app on your phone to book a GrabCar.

However, remember you need to pay them the 2-way gate fare of 30.000VND ~ 1.5 US$. Choose a proper pick-up and drop-off point to avoid communication issues.

Traditional Taxi

It’s not hard finding a taxi outside the airport. There will be a taxi lineup the moment you walk out of the airport. To avoid the scams, I list down some notable and reliable brands:

  • Taxi Mai Linh (phone no. 024 38 222 666): the remarkably green cab with its name “Mai Linh” on both sides.

  • Taxi Van Xuan (phone no. 024 38 535353): the grey cab with a blue and a red line along both sides. This one offers quite a low price compared to Mai Linh as the quality of the car is not as good as Mai Linh Taxi.

  • Taxi Airport (phone no. 024 3200 2566): the half white and half dark pink cab with its phone number on the front door.

The average price should be 250.000 – 300.000 VND (11-14 US$). This includes airport gate fare. Do not pay more than this and if you are quoted a higher price, you are most likely being scammed.

Private Car

You can book a private car from a travel agency to pick you up at the airport. This is the safest and fastest way.

The price of a private car is around 16 – 18 US$. With a group of 4 – 5 people and above then the price is 5 US$/each person.

Noi Bai Airport Bus & Shuttle Bus – Hanoi Airport Bus

  • 86 Bus Line at Terminal 2. The approximate time of transportation is an hour, with a 30.000 VND (1.4 US$) ticket fee and bilingual instruction. The earliest time you can catch the bus is 5:10 AM and the bus departs at 10:30 PM. One small drawback is that the bus contains only 25 seats, while its capacity is 80 people. Perhaps prepare yourself to stand during the 60-minute drive.

Airport bus shuttles: Several “minibus” lines travel from Noi Bai Airport to Hanoi city center.

  • Jetstar Pacific offers both drop-offs at, and pick-up from, the Jetstar office at 206 Tran Quang Khai Street. The bus departs Noi Bai Airport shortly after the arrival of its flights – to score a seat, reserve and pay on the flight itself before boarding. Tickets cost 40.000 VND (about 2 US$) per way.

  • Vietnam Airlines offers both drop-offs at, and pick-up from, the Vietnam Airlines office at 1 Quang Trung Street. Buses depart every 30-40 minutes from Terminal 1 arrivals. Tickets cost 40.000 VND (about 2 US$) per way, payable at the queue.

  • VietJet Air, Vietnam’s own home-grown budget airline offers shuttle bus service between the airport’s T1 and the city. Seats must be booked on the official VietJet website at least 24 hours before the flight.
