It is not wrong to say Ha Long Bay is a big name in the Vietnamese tourism industry. It is located in Quang Ninh province, which is around 100 miles from the capital Hanoi. The name Ha Long Bay means the bay of descending dragons.<br /> As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ha Long Bay is like a gem of Northern Vietnam. This tourist spot features 1,600 limestone islands with a total area of more than 1,500 square kilometers. The bay is also a house of extraordinary karst formations, deep caves, white beaches, abundant wildlife, and world-class cruises. Currently, about 1,600 people are living here in four villages, including Vong Vieng, Cong Tau, Ba Hang, and Cua Van.

Ha Long Bay Attraction

Though Ha Long Bay is a top tourist destination of Vietnam, most of its islands are still well-preserved. To fully explore its majestic attractions, you should spend several days here.

We highly recommend two attractions for you to add to your bucket list.

#1. Dau Be Island

It is an ideal location for diving and swimming. You will be impressed by its deep grottoes and abundant coral, along with three island lakes. And if you want to reach the caves here, you will need to take a boat trip.

#2. Dau Go Island

This island is famous for its huge colorful cave that houses a lot of stalagmites as well as stalactites. Notably, some of them are over 20 meters high.

Additionally, you can visit Bo Hon Island with famous Sung Sot Cave and Pelican Cave, or fish farms and floating villages in the bay.

It is a famous bar that also offers Karaoke service. They provide a list of yummy drinks and open until late.

It is another popular venue among tourists. Coming here, you will not be able to take the eyes off a spectacular harbor view. Additionally, it is also an excellent spot to get info about the Ha Long Bay travel and book tours.

Coming to this lovely bar, you will definitely have a great night with various interesting activities here, such as board games and pool tables.

There are not too many shopping options in Ha Long Bay. So if you want to buy something as souvenirs, food specialties and so on, you can go to a night market at Bai Chay. This market has a bunch of small stalls with a wide range of goods from silk ao dai, chopsticks, lacquerware, dolls, tea sets, to name a few. One important thing that you should remember is that you should bargain half of offered prices. 

Additionally, you can try shopping at floating shops. People here usually row their boats around selling various goods like alcohol, chips, cookies, and others.

Ha Long Bay belongs to Northern Vietnam so the weather here is similar to that of Hanoi. The climate features humid and tropical monsoon weather. It has four seasons clearly with the own features of weather. 

October – December is the best time for you to visit the bay as the weather is quite pleasant. The temperature is just about 13°C-21°C, and the humidity level is also much lower, which is ideal for you to move around and explore the beauty of the bay. 

Notably, there are various special programs and deals on this occasion. However, as it is a peak tourism season, Ha Long Bay will be more crowded. 

So if you are not comfortable with this, you can consider another time to visit the bay.

Ha Long Bay Itinerary for Ideal days? 

If you plan to visit Ha Long, we have two best itineraries for you.

#1. One-day cruise

  • Part 1: Going to Ha Long Bay from Hanoi at around 11:00 AM and checking in at a cruise office.
  • Part 2: Having lunch with Vietnamese food during the cruise. You should visit Sung Sot, Thien Cung caves, and Vung Vieng village.
  • Part 3: Ending the trip from 5:00 PM.

#2. Two-day-one-night cruise

  • Day 1: Moving from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay

After arriving in Ha Long Bay at around 11:00 – 12:00 AM from Hanoi, you check in cabin and enjoy Vietnamese food. Then you should explore pearl farm villages here, and try kayaking. 

Before the evening, you come back to your ship and enjoy the sunset view as well as play some games or go squid fishing. 

  • Day 2: Exploring Ha Long Bay

You can start your trip by doing Tai Chi exercise and feel the fresh air here. Then enjoy your breakfast with tea or coffee.
