Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is known for its centuries-old architecture and a rich culture with Southeast Asian, Chinese and French influences. At its heart is the chaotic Old Quarter, where the narrow streets are roughly arranged by trade. There are many little temples, including Bach Ma, honoring a legendary horse, plus Dong Xuan Market, selling household goods and street food.
Upon arrival, your guide will be waiting to transfer you from the airport to your hotel.
Depending on your arrival time, AZ Local Trip can manage some visits for you to have first experiences with our capital city. Hanoi is one of Asia’s most enchanting cities. It’s a city steeped in history and culture yet modern and fast-developing.
In the evening, a dinner out to taste local authentic Vietnamese Cuisine, followed by the water puppet show – a fantastic art form, unique to Vietnam and best seen in Hanoi.
You’ll have your breakfast at the hotel and then the local tour guide will pick you up to show you around the capital city of Vietnam.
The first destination is Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, an imposing structure housing the remains of the revered former president. Then explore the Temple of Literature (Quoc Tu Giam). In 1076 Quoc Tu Giam – Vietnam’s first university also referred to as Van Mieu, was established within a temple to educate Vietnam’s royalty, mandarins and members of the elite.
After lunch, you can go to Museum of Ethnology (closed on Monday) where you observe Vietnam’s diverse cultures through the Museum’s unique presentation of artifacts and dress used in daily life.
You then drive to Hanoi Center, explore the lively Old Quarter of Hanoi. This bustling heart of Hanoi has been a commercial hub since King Ly Thai To built his palace there in the 11th century. Skilled craftsmen started to migrate and artisan guilds were formed on the famous “36 Streets”. This is a must-see place if you want to experience an authentic Hanoi, where you will find shopping and cultural/historical sites all wrapped into one.
The rest of the day you can explore further on your own or take a shopping expedition in the Old Quarter. Or just relax at one of the many parks and lakes that make Hanoi one of the greenest cities in Asia.
In the evening, your guide and driver will pick you up and transfer to Hanoi Railway Station. We’ll get you situated in an air-conditioned, 4-berth cabin with soft sleepers for an overnight train to Lao Cai. You will arrive at Lao Cai at about 6:00 am the next day.
Sapa town is 38km from Lao Cai city and 376km from Hanoi. To get to Sapa, you can choose to take a night train or car via the new highway. Leaving behind the hectic pace of life in the city, get to Sapa and breath in the fresh air, admire the amazing natural scenery and also see the local life through the lens of the indigenous people here.
Arrive at Lao Cai Station at 06.00. Picked-up and transferred to Sapa by car (40km mountain road from Lao Cai). Drive to a restaurant and hotel where you can get cleaned up, refreshed, and get something to eat.
The mountain landscape of Sapa is magnificent and beautiful year round. Stop at misty pinewoods, graceful terraced paddy fields and get lovely pictures of charming Hmong or Dzao girls we see on the mountainside.
Free on your own till lunch time.
After lunch, we’ll take a 4km trek to Cat Cat Village, the home of Hmong Ethic. Meeting and talking with locals to learn more about their daily life.
You’ll have dinner back in the town of Sapa and have the evening to explore the town on your own.
Ta Van village is about 8km from Sapa, down to Muong Hoa valley. Visiting this village, visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the lifestyle of the Giay people.
The road to Ta Van Giay hamlet is small, narrow and full of dirty road, both sides of the road are fertile terraced fields adorned with maize and young rice.
You’ll have your breakfast in the hotel and then a guide will be there by 9:00 am to take you on your trekking day. Your trek today is about 15km through hill tribe villages that belong to the Black H’mong, Dzay, and Red Dzao people.
Have a picnic lunch on the way then keep going along the valley to get to Ta Van village to visit the Dzay people, who are supposed to be the most friendly ones in the mountainous area. The next destination is Giang Ta Chai village of Red Dzao tribe where you will see the amazing scenery and the beautiful waterfall.
In the afternoon, you get back to Sapa to go to Lao Cai and catch the overnight train back to Hanoi.
Halong Bay is a famous tourist destination of Vietnam, located in the West Bank of the North Sea in the North East Coast of Vietnam. With thousands of magnificent islands, miraculous formations of natural creation, Halong Bay has been recognized by UNESCO as the natural heritage of the world. Halong tourism has the advantage of beautiful scenery, attractive to both domestic and international tourists.
Early in the morning, arrive in Hanoi, the guide pick you up and transfer you to take a daily room for relaxing and shower. We’ll pick you up in Hanoi by 8:00 am and 4 hours drive to Halong bay – a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Arrive at your jetty in Halong City towards noon and proceed with check-in formalities. After your welcome on board, lunch will be served while cruising along stunning limestone karst formations jutting out of the jade waters.
Later, take a kayak out and get an up-close look at the incredible jungle-clad karst formations for which Halong Bay is so famous. A peaceful night on board in a private cabin.
Begin the day with a Tai Chi class on deck in the early morning mist or just admire the beautiful scenery as the sun rises over the azure waters. Choose between an excursion to a secluded island with a sandy beach for a swim or join the chef for a cooking demonstration to learn more about Vietnamese cuisine.
Enjoy a leisure brunch while your junk cruises Halong Bay, passing islets and caves as you make your way back to the dock.
Your driver will meet you when you disembark and transfer you back to Hanoi for your onward flight. End of tour.
