Hanoi Opera House
Located at the center of No. 1, Trang Tien Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi Opera House is a popular destination for visitors coming to Hanoi.Hanoi Opera House is an architectural work of the French colonists from 1901 to 1911. At that time, it’s a place that showed classical art such as opera, chamber music,… for the French upper class and some bourgeois Vietnamese. The design of this theater was inspired by the famous European architectural works such as the Paris Opera House, the Tuylory Castle,…
From the outside of the theater, we can feel the European atmoshere. The inside of the theater is divided into three main areas: main hall, auditorium room and mirror room. Entering the main hall, visitors will feel overwhelmed by its glittering splendor. The room is paved with white stone imported from Italy; the red carpet in the middle path creates a noble luxury feeling just like the British royal palace. The ceiling and walls are adorned with small chandeliers which brings a vintage and noble feeling.
Next is the audience room where the performances are performed. The space is exquisitely designed with a central stage and an archway-shaped grandstand inspired by the Roman arena embracing the stage to keep the audience’s eyes from being obscured. The audience room has total 598 seats which are distributed properly into 3 floors.
Finally is the mirror room, where important ceremonies are held. The space is full of classic design and gives off a luxurious feeling.
