Best Time to Trek in Cuc Phuong- the first National Park Vietnam

Cuc Phuong National Park’s climate is tropical monsoon, the average temperature year-round is around 25 degrees Celcius, so it’s quite good to trek and explores Cuc Phuong National Park. However, you should avoid November to January because the weather is usually cold and rainy, so entering the jungle is quite risky.

April and May are the best months in the year: thousands of colorful and beautiful butterflies appear in the jungle around this time, make a wonderful scene for anyone who treks this place. It would be like getting lost in Wonderland.

From May to August, you may encounter rains and storms once in a while, but the weather is really good and suitable for trekking.

Most of the travelers coming here share the same activity: trekking. Cuc Phuong National Park offers numerous jungle trek routes with different itineraries. You can go alone in some trek rout, but others require you to go with a park-guide or local scout.

Among those routes, the route of overnight camping in Muong Village is the most adventurous and popular. It is one of the hardest jungle trek routes with 30 kilometers walking in 2-3 days and your group must have at least 5 people. You will have a chance to stay overnight with the local people and explore the unique traditional culture.

Pay a visit to the conservation centers

The conservation centers can be regarded as the highlight of Cuc Phuong National Park. You will be amazed by the stories of the origins of all kinds of species, from animals to plants.

The Cuc Phuong Botanical Garden was established in 1985 and listed in the International Botanical Gardens. It was built to preserved genetic resources and rare plants, forming a semi-wild ecology for these kinds of flora. You can easily access the garden within a walking distance.

Another center is the Endangered Primate Rescue Centre. People are doing good things here by rescuing individual rare primates such as Gray langur, Cat Ba langur, etc, from confiscation, releasing animals to nature, research on primate’s living habits and environment. This is a wonderful place for a good deed.

If you want something more academic, you can visit Cuc Phuong Museum. This is an important study site for students, conservation experts, botanists and tourists all alike.
